Calcaneal spine or Lenoir's thorn

In the morning when you get up do you feel pain in your heel? You may be a victim of heel spur!
No, this is not a bad word nor a variety of thorny roses… Because indeed thorns, in theory we find them on roses! But we can also have it in the feet ...
The heel spine forms on the heel bone:
a membrane connects the heel bone to the phalanges of the front of the foot, when this membrane is too stressed, microtraumas appear where it fits into the heel. The inflammation will lead to the formation of bone cells which will eventually create a growth in the shape of a thorn: the famous heel spur or Lenoir's thorn.
We will immediately think that this only happens to women wearing very thin heels or to great athletes who will be more exposed to inflammation of the membrane connecting the heel and the forefoot. It has been proven that intense sports practice such as running but also being overweight as well as wearing unsuitable shoes and prolonged and repeated standing are also risk factors that should not be overlooked.
People who work standing all day, such as a nurse or a chef, are more likely to develop heel spur if they are poorly fitted.
